Parking

• Elderly housing parking reduction20 pct

  Multi-family that is designated as 'housing for older persons' ... is allowed a 20 percent reduction of the required parking.

• Maximum compact spaces25 pct

  Up to 25 percent of all spaces may be reduced to compact spaces.

• Maximum tandem parking for residential75 pct

  Up to 75 percent of the total off-street parking spaces provided for residential projects may incorporate tandem parking.

• Minimum overhead clearance7 ft

  All off-street parking spaces must have a minimum overhead clearance of seven feet.

• Minimum separation from building7 ft

  All off-street parking areas shall be separated at least seven feet from buildings.

• Motorcycle aisle minimum width5 ft

  accessible by an aisle at least five feet wide.

• Motorcycle space minimum depth8 ft

  Motorcycle parking spaces shall be a minimum of eight feet deep.

• Motorcycle space minimum width4 ft

  Motorcycle parking spaces shall be a minimum of four feet wide.

• Multi-tenant retail bicycle ratio

  The minimum required bicycle parking is one per 2,500 square feet.

• Multi-tenant retail parking ratio

  The minimum required vehicle parking is one space per 500 square feet.

• Multiple uses parking sum

  Development containing more than one use must provide off-street parking in an amount equal to the total requirements of all individual uses.

• Fraction rounding

  When computation of the number of required parking spaces results in a fraction, the result shall be rounded upward to the next highest whole number.

• Parking landscaping requirement

  Except for off-street parking areas serving single-family detached and two-family dwellings, off-street parking and loading areas shall comply with the standards of Sec. 40.2-304(D) Vehicular Use Area Landscaping.

• Parking lighting glare

  When lighted, off-street parking and loading areas shall be lighted so as to prevent glare or illumination exceeding maximum allowable levels on adjacent land.

• Parking markings required

  Each required off-street parking space and off-street parking facility must be identified by surface markings.

• Parking surface material

  All off-street parking and loading areas shall be surfaced with asphalt, concrete, brick, stone pavers, aligned concrete strips, or an equivalent material.

• Vehicle overhang setbackSetbackThe distance a building must be held back from a lot line.2 ft

  Off-street parking and loading areas shall provide curbs, motor vehicle stops, or similar devices at a minimum distance of two feet.
