Chapter 10.28 - STOP SIGNS AND YIELD RIGHT-OF-WAY SIGNS#

10.28.010 - Stop sign erection authorized.#

Whenever the traffic and safety engineer designates any street or portion thereof as a through street, any intersection at which vehicles are required to stop at one or more entrances thereto, or any railroad grade crossing at which vehicles are required to stop, the traffic and safety engineer shall erect and maintain stop signs as follows:

(1) A stop sign shall be placed on each and every street intersecting a designated through street or portion thereof, at designated entrances to other intersections where a stop sign is required, and at any designated railroad crossing; provided, however, that stop signs shall not be erected or maintained at any entrance to an intersection when such is controlled by an official traffic-control signal. Every sign shall conform with, and shall be placed as provided in, the Vehicle Code.

10.28.020 - Stop upon emerging from alley, driveway or building.#

The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway or driveway.

10.28.030 - Yield right-of-way signs.#

When deemed necessary for the orderly and safe movement of traffic by the traffic and safety engineer, he may erect a yield right-of-way sign on any one of the approaches to an intersection of streets or highways which are not through highways.
